Summary edit

Description

Although officially the Land Clerget Tractor (LCT), this type was more commonly known as the 1½ Strutter due to the configuration of wing to fuselage struts. Although marked as ‘S.85’, this is actually ‘S.88’ and is a French built reconnaissance variant known as the SOP.1A.2. It flew with the Belgian Air Service during World War One and was then gifted to the museum in 1920/1921. Restored in the markings of 3 Escadrille, who flew the type in 1917, it is now one of only four genuine survivors of the type and remains on display at what is known as the Brussels Air Museum, although it is actually the Air and Space Section of the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History. Brussels, Belgium.
