Description
English: Looking east across L'Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C., in the United States. L'Enfant Plaza and L'Enfant Promenade were designed by I. M. Pei for developer William Zeckendorf in the early 1960s. Pei's partner, Araldo Cossutta, designed the North Building and South Building, two office buildings which border the plaza. These were constructed in the late 1960s. To the left of the image is the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, designed by Vlastimil Koubek and built in 1971. The South Building is to the right. Le'Enfant Promenade consists of the street and pedestrian median at the bottom of the image. The Robert C. Weaver Federal Building, headquarters of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, can be seen in the background between the two buildings.
