Description
English: South Gate, Royal Pavilion gardens.
  • Head south out of the gardens and the gate marks the entrance.
  • The original gate was built in 1831 for William IV but was demolished in 1851 for the erection of Pavilion Buildings to the right of the picture. This archway was constructed in 1921 as a memorial to Indian war dead some of whom died in the make shift hospital in the Pavilion itself.
  • The dome of the north gate can be seen through the archway.
