Summary
editDescriptionSouth Lane footpath, Elland - geograph.org.uk - 91708.jpg |
English: South Lane footpath, Elland. On the left is industrial development on the site of the Woodman Pipe Works, founded in 1810. At this point the tarmac road ends and South Lane becomes a public footpath continuing up to Blackley. It has evidently been a road, however, as it is wide throughout although much overgrown apart from the footpath. The photo is taken from the top of a hairpin bend, and shows a stone setted section of the former road. On the right is a former clay or shale quarry. In the middle distance is the section of South Lane in the other photo of that name, and Elland is spread out in the distance, the red roof on the left being All Saints' Church. |
