DescriptionSouthbound passenger train at Knockarney crossing - 1997 (geograph 3607751).jpg |
English: Southbound passenger train at Knockarney crossing - 1997 Irish Rail 201 class diesel locomotive No. 203 brings the 18.00 Belfast (Central) - Dublin (Connolly) passenger service towards Knockarney crossing. These were the last days for traditional locomotive hauled passenger services on the cross-border "Enterprise", the push-pull De Dietrich stock entering revenue service on 11 June 1997 (although trains were briefly suspended due to an increase in civil unrest). Knockarney crossing closed as part of the Belfast - Dublin upgrade project. |
