English: Southern Vectis 758 Thorness Bay (R758 GDL), a Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties Palatine, at the Co-op, Carvel Lane, Cowes, Isle of Wight, on route 1. It is seen during Cowes Week in 2009. During the week route 1 terminates at the Co-op instead of the Red Jet terminal. This means that the Fountain Quay archway doesn't need to be driven through, which enables double-deckers to be used on the route. Throughout the rest of the year, route 1 is run by Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointer 2 MPD single-deckers. This photo is very rare, as when seen, 758 has been put into the coach fleet, for use on school work, for which it has had Fountain Coaches branding applied (and its Thorness Bay name removed). Nevertheless, the Tuesday of Cowes Week brought it out into normal service - something which never really happened much more. All the other double-deckers on route 1 that week were normal, low floor ones from the main Southern Vectis bus fleet. When photographed, the power blinds were changing themselves from "Cowes" to "Newport", hence the strange display seen here.
