English: Southern defensive Ramparts, Maiden Castle (2) Looking west showing the three main ditches and the four banks. The last line of defence, the bank on the extreme right would have been topped by a wooden pallisade. Remains of living accommodation have been found inside the enclosure a tiny part of which can be seen on the extreme right behind the last bank.. |
