Description

Located in the Pilgrim's chapel, this three light window depicts The Crucifixion by Nicholson, 1916. Angels above the figures of St John and The Virgin carry The Host and consecrated wine. The background quarries show The Instruments of the Passion, as well as St John's chalice and dragon. A scroll quotes "Tu devicto mortis aculeo aperuisti credentibus regna caelorum" from the Te Deum (Thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death:thou didst open the kingdom of Heaven to all believers). The traceries contain Alpha and Omega, and The Pelican in Her Piety is at the top.

The window is in memory of John Becher who died in 1916 aged 35.
