Highway speed limit sign in miles and km per hour, Florida 1992

| Description |
English: A dual miles per hour and kilometers per hour sign, located along southbound Coral Ridge Drive and the Sawgrass Expressway in May 1992. This sign is no longer extant, as many of the kilometer signs were removed from use in the United States. This sign was likely erected in 1986, when the Sawgrass Expressway was opened to traffic. This was probably the first road sign I'd ever photographed, all because I had heard a radio news story about how some of these metric signs were incorrect. Figuring that they'd be removed as soon as possible, I took a photo of this one, the only one I was aware of, which was located just south of the exit for Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs. It was gone by the following year. Photo taken with a Canon AE-1 camera, using a 55mm FD lens, and Kodak Tri-X film. |
