English: A plane wave (zero vergence, parallel rays) arrives at a positive lens, which retards the waves - in the middle more so than at the rim, causing a curvature of the wave fronts. The now convergent rays intersect in the focus.
Deutsch: Eine ebene Welle (Vergenz null, parallele Strahlen) trifft auf eine Sammellinse, in der die Wellen langsamer vorankommen.
