Description
Español: Esfinge de mármol, probablemente era la base de una mesa, con cabeza de mujer, cuerpo de léon y alas de águila. Las estatuas de esfinges solían ser hitos funerarios en su papel de guardianas de las tumbas. Época romana, circa 120-140 d. C., procedente de Monte Cagnolo, en las afueras de Lanuvium, cerca de Roma, Italia. Dimensiones: 840 mm x 800 mm x 550 mm. GR 1805,0703.40 (escultura 1719). Pertenece a la exposición La belleza del cuerpo, en el MARQ. Forma parte de la exposición permanente del Museo Británico.
