Description
English: Spot the Llama The two animals seen at right are alpacas, the larger animal with the brown coat at left is a llama.

Llamas (Lama glama) are members of the camelid family and originate from South America, where they are used as pack animals, and for fibre and meat production. An adult llama is between 1.60 to 1.80 metres tall at the top of the head. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llama

Alpacas, South American camelids also, resemble small llamas, but llamas are considerably taller and heavier. Apart from their different sizes, llamas and alpacas can also be distinguished by the shape and size of their ears: alpacas have shorter and straight ears whereas the ears of llamas are banana-shaped. Alpacas are kept in herds at altitudes of 2300 to 5000 metres and are valued only for their fibre. They are not used as pack animals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpaca
