  • Partnering with local saloon keeper-turned-wholesale liquor merchants John C. Nixon (Former proprietor of the Grotto Saloon) and Frank Algar, A.P. Hotaling incorporated his Seattle branch (A.P. Hotaling Company of Puget Sound) in November 1882, building a large wholesale warehouse on Yesler's Wharf and opening a sample room and office in the building at right, which had been built for Nixon by Franklin Matthias in the summer of 1882.
  • The brick McNaught, Walker & Renton Building on the left edge of the photo was also completed around November 1882.
