English: St. Goarshausen is surrounded by the Rhenish Slate Mountains, in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Neukatzenelnbogen Castle was built as a base and link between Rheinfels and Reichenberg. Its essential components are the round keep and residential buildings as well as a shield wall
