Description
English: St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main Street, Amherst, New York, July 2020. Owing its existence to the very beginning of the process of suburbanization in the Buffalo metro area, the parish was formed in 1920 to serve the spiritual needs of the rapidly growing hamlet of Eggertsville, and the building in which it meets today - designed by architect Mortimer Murphy in his favored Late Gothic Revival style (check out the irregular masonry patterns evident on the stone walls of the façade and the crenellations atop the steepleless tower) - was erected in 1952.
