Description Two 1930-built bascule railroad bridges crossing the South Branch of the Chicago River, in Chicago: The still-in-use St. Charles Air Line Bridge and an abandoned Baltimore & Ohio / Chicago Terminal Railroad bridge (permanently fixed in the raised position). The photo was taken from the W. 18th Street Bridge, and the downtown Chicago skyline provides a scenic backdrop.
