Summary edit
DescriptionSt. Martin's Church - stained glass window - geograph.org.uk - 1582235.jpg |
English: St. Martin's Church - stained glass window. See 1582099. Philip Webb, the church's architect, was a close friend and associate of William Morris. Stained glass was one of the main products of Morris's firm. Morris, Ford Maddox Brown, Rossetti and Webb and others provided cartoons for stained glass, but the lion's share of the figure designing was done by Burne-Jones. Morris supervised the whole process and especially the colour scheme and lead design. This window is in memory of Joseph Coulthard, first master of Brampton School, and later founder of Croft House Academy. {Source: Leaflet "Brampton Church Stained Glass". } |
