Summary
editDescriptionSt. Mary's Church, Attenborough - geograph.org.uk - 735805.jpg |
English: St. Mary's Church, Attenborough. Seen from the Attenborough Nature Reserve, the church of St. Mary the Virgin dates from Mediaeval times. Most of the building took place over a 300 year period, and millstone grit, from Derbyshire was used in the construction. The earliest known fabric in the present day church is the arch of a 12th century doorway, originally part of the chancel, now built into the north wall of the church. For more information on the fascinating history of the church, see http://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk/a02/hhistory.html |
