Orthodox Church in America (Russian)

Hoonah, Alaska

Located on the Chichagof Island, the small village Hoonah is the largest Tlingit settlement in Alaska; Tlingit have been in this area since prehistory. The Orthodox church was established in 1929. It has been without a priest since the only Tlingit ever ordained to the priesthood, Fr. Michael Williams, died in 1994. The church is served by St. Nicholas Juneau.
