Description
Deutsch: St. Vitus (Balzhausen), Fresko (1768): Heiliger Theophilus.
Gemeint ist der hl. Theophil von Adana, der aus Karrieregründen seine Seele dem Teufel verschrieben hatte, später reuig zur Mutter Gottes betete und Erhörung fand: Schließlich träumte ihm einmal, die Heilige Jungfrau sei ihm erschienen und habe ihm das Schriftstück seines Teufelspakts wiederbeschafft. Als er erwachte, fand er das verhängnisvolle Dokument tatsächlich in seinen Händen und konnte es verbrennen. Siehe Heiligenlexikon.
