Summary edit

Description
English: New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina:

Bywater neighborhood: Another view of one of the city buses still on the St. Claude Avenue neutral ground (median) which had been unofficially commondeered and used as shelter for people flooded out of their homes in the days after the Hurricane.

Note fabric formerly giving residents shade.

    • Note from resident of St. Claude: The buses were not used as shelter, they were used by residents attempting to get out of the city. People had trouble driving the buses, so many ended up crashed throughout the neighborhood. Some buses had their tires shot out by various law enforcement.
The cloth was not used to give the residents shade! One of our neighbors had a seamstress shop across the street from the bus, while we were helping her clean out the flooded materials, we decided to drape the bus with the ruined fabric as part of our "toxic Art Exhibit". At one point this bus also bore a banner stating "This is not a Cristo."
