Summary

Description
English: Located a short distance north of Cazenovia Park, the Italian Baroque-style design of St. Thomas Aquinas RC Church has the 11th-century Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome as a model. The church's exterior is faced in "Crab Orchard" sandstone from Tennessee in imitation of the yellow marble of its model, and also boasts a red tile roof and a 100-foot (30m) campanile standing sentinel over Abbott Road; inside there's a polychromatic, Medieval-style wooden ceiling and some wonderful examples of mosaic art imported from Italy: an intricate oeuvre on the semidome above the altar depicting the Blessed Sacrament, as well as Stations of the Cross in mosaic form.
