Description
English: St Alfege Church, Greenwich A Grade A (1) listed building, the parish church of Greenwich. A church has stood here since the 11th century on the traditional site of the martyrdom of St Alfege on 13 April 1012. King Henry VIII was baptised here and Thomas Tallis is buried in the church. The present church, the third on the site, was designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, pupil of Sir Christopher Wren. It was dedicated in 1718.
