DescriptionSt Andrew's church - baptismal font - geograph.org.uk - 802498.jpg |
English: St Andrew's church - baptismal font. St Andrew's church > 802470 houses one of the major art objects of England - a late 14th century rood screen which is very little restored > 802482 - 802487 - 802490. The paintings of saints, arranged in pairs on altogether 16 panels, are of very high quality. Other medieval survivals are the large octagonal font with lions at its base (seen here) and stained glass depicting angels > 802492. The pulpit is Jacobean > 802493. Some of the bench ends came from Kings College Chapel in Cambridge > 802496. The church is kept locked but a key is available.
