| Description |
English: Altar Hangings from 15th century. When William Bradway (d 1488) bequeathed these hangings the church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The Frontal shows the Annunciation and the dossal her Assumption. The stitching showing the removal of the figure of the Virgin, which was carefully removed after the rededication of the church so that the hangings could continue to be used, can still be distinguished.
The altar frontal was copied for the Coronation of George V in Westminster Abbey in 1911. |
