Description
English: The Hanington Memorial (1604) in St James' church, Bramley, Hampshire. Inscription in Latin, translated as: "Live piously you who wish to die happy; and learn how to die so that you may live piously. Here is laid the body of Reginald Hanington, Gentleman, who lived a bachelor for seventy-two years and died 29 May 1604, his support being in God's goodwill alone, in whose infinite mercies he rests. John Bie, gentleman, his dearest nephew, put up this monument to be as much a witness to his love as a record of the dead man. Be mindful and learn how to die, for now you may see yourself reflected in the dead man. We are all making towards this end. This is our final home. This is the way we go to our country."
