Summary
editDescriptionSt Joan, Shaw Theatre, Euston Road.JPG |
English: St. Joan by Keith Grant,1971, at the entrance to the Shaw Theatre in Euston Road. The plaque below this sculpture reads: " This sculpture was inspired by George Bernard Shaw's play St. Joan, and was designed as the symbol of the Shaw Theatre. Its component parts are the abstract forms of a knight's helmet and the long bows and lances of medieval armies. The work commemorates events in Joan's life but also the courage of subsequent women victims of oppression and injustice. George Bernard Shaw lived in St Pancras where he was a vestryman of the Parish. |
