DescriptionSt Mary's church in Redgrave - Victorian stained glass - geograph.org.uk - 2258715.jpg | Royal arms of King George V, detail from Playfair Memorial Window, St Mary's Church, Redgrave, Suffolk, dedicated to Captain The Hon. Lyon Playfair (1889-1915), Royal Field Artillery, killed in action near Ypres on 20 April 1915, aged 26. He was the only son of Brigadier-General George James Playfair, 2nd Baron Playfair (1849–1939). See his inscribed memorial tablet in the same church.[1]. With motto of Royal Field Artillery below royal motto: Above a gun a scroll bearing UBIQUE (Everywhere) and below it the second scroll bearing QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT (Where fate and glory lead). |
