English: St Mary Magdalene Church, Waltham on the Wolds. The earthquake on 27th February 2008, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, created a 30 ft-long crack in the 700-year-old church's steeple, which will cost around £80,000 to repair. The church and church yard have been closed ever since the damage was discovered by the village bell ringers and services have been held in neighbouring churches and the Village Hall. Luckily the insurers have agreed that the repairs will be covered so the spire is now covered in scaffolding. It will have to be dismantled stone by stone, each one numbered individually and rebuilt exactly as before to repair the damage.
