English: St Pancras Hospital This was once St Pancras workhouse, built in the 1880's, see http://www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html?StPancras/StPancras.shtml
It is now a rehabilitation hospital but many of the old buildings have been retained in use. In 1961 the poet Sylvia Plath had an appendectomy here in a ward overlooking Old St Pancras cemetery and she subsequently wrote her poem 'Tulips' from notes she made at the time. |
