Description
500px provided description: Church of St. Paul at the Three Fountains. The church stands on the site, formerly called ad aquas salvias , where, according to tradition, St. Paul was martyred by beheading: legend has it that his head, cut once, he bounced three times on the ground, calling into play every leap a water source, a warm, a warm and a cold, hence the name of the name of the three fountains . He later added the tradition that the beheading of St. Paul had taken place along the Via Ostiense , in the place where he was later buried and was built in the time of Constantine the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls .
