Description

St Peter's Church, Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire. Showing label stop head on gallery in nave. This is a faux Romanesque portrait by Catherine Mawer of her nephew William Ingle, featuring his long hair, full moustache and full beard.

Note that all of these heads have some some indication of movement, even if it is only in the direction of the eyes. Note how the shapes and colours of the arch make this man appear to be throwing or stretching his arms up.
