Deutsch: Weilberg-Steinbruch im Naturschutzgebiet „Siebengebirge“ (NSG SU-001K2) in Königswinter, Deutschland – Das Siebengebirge, südöstlich gelegen von Bonn, ist ein Mittelgebirge vulkanischen Ursprungs mit mehr als 50 Bergen und Anhöhen. Mit einer Fläche von 4.272,9764 ha bleibt hier sowohl Tier- als auch Pflanzenwelt eine zum Teil vom Menschen unberührte Natur und Ruhezone erhalten, die zu Recht unter strengsten Schutzregeln steht.
Der Weilberg ist ein Naturdenkmal des Siebengebirges, an dessen Spitze ein stillgelegter Steinbruch einen direkten Einblick in den Gesteinsaufbau und somit in die ehemaligen vulkanischen Aktivitäten der Region ermöglicht. Das Gebiet ist weitgehend umzäunt und nur über zwei Aussichtsplattformen zu erreichen, da die Felsenklippe gerne von Vögeln als Niststätte genutzt wird und in Kombination mit Kleingewässern Lebensraum für diverse Flora und Fauna bietet. Am Weilberg wurde am 15. Oktober 1971 dem Siebengebirge das Europäische Diplom für geschützte Gebiete verliehen. |
