Summary edit

Description
English: Robert C. Lambie constructed a very sturdy, beautiful staircase in the main entry of Southgate-Lewis House. The balusters were hand-turned and the newel posts were hand carved. The newel posts have fine detailed ornamental carvings. One such carving is shown. It seems reasonable to suggest that this engraving depicts an ancient Assyrian from the first millennium B.C. art work of Mesopotamia.
