Description
English: Stairs to the upper terrace, Kuthodaw Pagoda, Mandalay, Myanmar. Guardian figures include manuthihas (half human half lion with a bifid rump) at the bottom underneath the heads of makara sea monsters which form the sides, and at the top biloos (ogres). The large thabeik (alms bowl) in the foreground is for discarded offerings.
