Description Stamp of the United Arab Emirates – Emirate Ras al-Khaima; 1968; commemorative stamp to the issue "Masterworks of the International Museum Campaign 1968"; issue of 24 stamps and 4 blocks, each with 2 different stamps; The depicted stamp is stamp No. 14 (UAE-RK, Michel No. 241A ("B" = imperforate) from 1968) of this issue and shows the painting by Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805) with the title "La Laitiére" (English: "The milkmaid"). Greuze has created this painting between 1780 and 1785

in the style of the portrait paintery of the 18th century. Although Greuze was an ardent admirer of the ideas of the enlightnment, he remained at his entire artifical work rooted of the bourgeois traditions of the Rococo.; His painting "La Laitiére" can be seen, quite rightly, as the most representative artwork of his craft.; At this painting are in the first line depicted an affected pose in combination with a simpering smile and an unsuitable and over-arrangement of the dress and that all at a delicious coquetry of the attitude with a dimpled roundness of the form and, above all, an sparkle in the clair eyes at an exquisite bloom of the flesh.; Unfortunately this stamp was postmarked by CTO.
