Description

Stamp of Burundi (1st Republic); 1971; commemorative stamp of the issue "Easter 1971"; issue of 6 stamps + 4 blocks à 3 stamp (Michel Block 48A+B, 49A+B ("A"=perforated, "B"=imperforate, Block 49 = airmail); Depicted is the stamp BDI Michel No. 752A which is shows as central motive a detail of the painting "Noli Me Tangere" by Correggio (1489-1534) original name; "Antonio Allegri da Correggio", called only "Correggio").; This painting was created ca. in 1525 in the style of the Italian Renaissance and is contemporary located at the "Museo del Prado" in Madrid (Spain).; The title "Noli Me Tangere" is a quotation from the Bible ("Gospel of the John", Germanː "Johannes-Evangelium", English: John 20:17)) and means a phrase of Jesus Christ directed to Mary Magdalene shortly after his resurrection.; The quotation is the Latin translation from the Greek original ("Septuaginta" (literally = "70" in old-Greek) of the Catholic Church (not at other Christian churches)) and means "Touch Me Not" in the sense of "cease holding to me" or "stop clinging to me".; Unfortunately this stamp was postmarked with a unreadable CTO.
