Description

Airmail stamp of Burundi (1st Republic); 1971; commemorative airmail stamp of the issue "Easter 1971"; issue of 6 stamps + 4 blocks à 3 stamp (Michel Block 48A+B, 49A+B ("A"=perforated, "B"=imperforate, Block 49 = airmail); Depicted is the stamp BDI Michel No. 753A which shows as central motive a detail of the painting "Resurrection of Christ with St. Gorge’s Cross" by Lluis Borassà (probably 1375 – probably 1423) or Guerau Gener (1375-1408) (other source). The painting was created between 1407 ans 1411 (source for both variants) in the style of the late Gothic and is contemporary located in the "Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya" (MNAC) in Barcelona (Spain).; This painting was a part of the altarpiece (Retaule) of Marededéu de Montserrat, but was new mounted from some tables of the old altarpiece of Santa Cross.; Unfortunately this stamp was postmarked with a unreadable CTO.
