Description

Stamp of the United Arab Emirate – Emirate Fujairah (Fujeira); 1972; commemorative stamp of the issue "Children’s Day 1972 – Paintings" (Arab Children’s Day = ); Stamp with the painting by Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) with the title "Master Hare" (meant is the depicted child what is a portrait of Francis George Hare in 1788/1789 (= the oldest son of Francis Hare Naylor (1753-1815)).; J.Reynolds was from 1784 onwards "Court Painter of the King" under George III as King of the United Kingdom.; This painting is contemporary located in the Louvre in Paris (France).; This painting was created in 1788-1789 in the style of the Genre-paintery of the 18th Century (portrait paintery).; Reynolds blinded totally in 1789 and gave up the painery in this year.; This stamps was postmarked by CTO.
Note:
The Emirate "Fujairah" was 1892-1971 British and one of the so-called "Trucial States" in Southeast Arabia. This emirate published own stamps in 1964-1972, however the most of his stamps were "...gaudy topical stamps for sale to collectors". The depicted stamp in one of these.
