Description
English: Monday's direct action had Standing Rock water protectors converge on the state capitol building. They marched in from the 4 cardinal directions for prayerful ceremony at the doorstep of the state government.

Then the protectors took to the streets and marched through downtown Bismarck, before being walled off by the police just outside the federal building. They held their ground for a couple hours of peaceful prayerful ceremony, before marching back safely to the capitol steps. DAPL appears intent on completing this pipeline as soon as possible, to meet their shipping contracts which start on Jan.1st. The only section they have left is to drill and lay pipe under Lake Oahe, a reservoir on the Missouri river directly upstream of Standing Rock Reservation. The Army Corps of Engineers won't grant the pipeline company it's final easement permit until more consultation is done, citing unresolved historical grievances with the tribe. Will the company go for it anyways? Defying the feds to get the project done? If they miss their contract deadlines, they will have to renegotiate with current lower oil prices, losing potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in profits. So it's a battle of time now. Water protectors are standing up every day in efforts to slow or stop the black snake. While the state responds with more violence, arresting dozens of peaceful people each week. Colonization and oppression continues against the indigenous peoples of America, destroying our sources of life in the name of short-term investment gains. The state of North Dakota has been working hard for DAPL, doing everything they can to push this pipeline through. Now the people in the capitol of ND know that the water protectors mean business, and won't give up. The story continues...
