Summary edit
DescriptionStateLibQld 1 125027 City of Rome (ship).jpg |
English: The 8,415 GRT trans-Atlantic passenger liner City of Rome, built by the Barrow Ship Building Co in 1881. She was the second largest ship of her time: Great Eastern being the largest. Barrow SBC built her for Inman Line to compete for the Atlantic 'Blue Riband', but she was too heavy and under-powered. She also had less cargo capacity than Inman had ordered. Inmans returned her to Barrow SBC, who transferred her to Anchor Line. She was scrapped in 1902. |
