editDescriptionStateLibQld 2 134909 Gibbs and Emerick, signwriters, household painters, plumbers, glaziers and paper hangers, Maryland Street Stanthorpe, 1872.jpg |
English: Gibbs and Emerick, signwriters, household painters, plumbers, glaziers and paper hangers, Maryland Street Stanthorpe, 1872
It is unlikely that the miners had much use for a plumber, glazier or decorator since most lived in bark humpies or canvas tents. However, Stanthorpe experienced a constant influx of tradesmen who needed their signs and delivery carts painted and they came to Messrs Gibbs and Emerick. (Description supplied with photograph). A baker's cart stands outside the building advertising C. Grant, Baker. The building is timber with a bark covered roof. |
