James McCook was the licensee of the Royal Hotel at Wallangarra. Wallangarra is 232 miles Sout west from Brisbane by rail. It was a coaching stop for the mail coach at the border, on the way to Tenterfield, New South Wales. (Information taken from the Queensland Post Office Directory 1889). |
