Description A view of the north side of State Street in New London, Connecticut, west of the First Church of Christ, looking west. In the foreground in the Manwaring Building (Dudley St. Clair Donnelly, 1913) at #225-237, next to it is Lyric Hall (James Sweeney, 1898) at #243.

In the background is the ten-story Mohican Hotel at 281 State Street at Meridian Street, built in 1896 to house the printing presses of publisher Frank Munsey, and designed by William B. Tuthill. It was converted into a hotel in 1898, in its day one of the finest in Connecticut, and the only one in New London when the Crocker House closed down. It is currently an apartment building. The Mohican is part of the Downtown New London Historic District. (Sources: [1] and [2])
