English: Station Road, Ponthir Station Road heads away from Caerleon Road.
I don't know whether Ponthir railway station remained open until the withdrawal of local passenger services in 1962, or if it closed before then. The bigger unknown is why a small village warranted a station at all, especially as Caerleon railway station was nearby. |
