English: On verso of image: S.S. BERTHA, Copper Mountain, Land Locked Bay, Prince Willam Sound, Alaska, Wilse Photo . The BERTHA operated under various owners all along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, from Alaska to Panama (p. 46, 84, 122, 202), and was even used as a floating hotel for miners at Cook Inlet, Alaska in 1914 (p. 258). She was destroyed by fire in 1915 when water entered the forward hold and ignited an amount of lime (p. 258). Notes from Gordon Newell, ed., The H.W. McCurdy Marine History of the Pacific Northwest (Seattle: Superior Publishing Co, 1966).
