Description
English: Stechford 1844 railway station (site), Birmingham
Opened in 1844 by the London & Birmingham Railway on the section of line from Coventry to Birmingham. View east towards Lea Hall and Coventry. As built, the station had staggered platforms on either side of a level crossing. The Birmingham-bound platform was behind the camera position, as now, but the original Coventry-bound platform was located where the grass between the tracks now is, to the left of the image. In 1882, the whole station was moved to behind the camera position and the road bridge replaced the level crossing. See SP1287 : Stechford railway station, Birmingham.
