Description
English: Left panel of the front entrance bas relief of Sterling Memorial Library, Yale University, New Haven, CT. The relief was designed by Lee Lawrie and carved by René Chambellan. From left to right, the scene depicts Cro-Magnon, Egyptian, Babylonian, and Hebrew writing. At center are an Egyptian eagle and symbols, Phoenician ship, and Babylonian lamassu. Translations of the inscriptions are available in (April 1931). "Sterling Memorial Library". The Yale University Library Gazette. Retrieved on 24 April 2014.
