| Description |
English: Stopping the flow. Cross Keys Bridge is open and the traffic on the A17 is going nowhere. Bottom left is the crown wheel on one of the two wheel shafts that turn the bridge. Three pads on the shore-side support the weight of the bridge via "slip blocks" that are withdrawn to allow the bridge to turn. Between the pads are the plates that hydraulic jacks descend on to in order to relieve the slip blocks of the bridge's weight. |
