Description
The photo is a postcard of the Storage Dam cable bridge. The Storage Dam, which furnished Columbus' municipal water supply in the early 1900s, was constructed on the Scioto River in 1904. Originally designated the Jeffrey Dam, the structure became the Storage Dam on November 20, 1905. It was renamed Griggs Dam on December 18, 1922, in honor of Julian Griggs, who was chief engineer for the City of Columbus.
